Please note:

If you have prosecution papers (eg a summons, an IDPC, (or, for civil litigation a Claim Form and/or Particulars of Claim), it will greatly speed up our ability to understand your case and advise you as to whether we can offer to assist you if you send those to us using the 'Upload File' function, above.

All court proceedings have time limits that apply to various aspects of those proceedings. If you have been convicted in a criminal court, and wish to appeal conviction or sentence or both, then the time limit for doing so is generally either 21 or 28 days depending on what level of court the decision to be challenged was made at, and time limits matter. Courts have a discretion to extend the time limit, but in every case an explanation of why the time limit was not met will be required, and the longer the extension that is sought the greater must be the justification for why that extension should be granted. Therefore, the sooner you act, the better your position is for having the merits of your appeal heard.

In civil litigation, if a claim has been made against you there is a time limit for you to respond (which varies according to the type of claim), and if you fail to respond in time (or at all) the claimant can seek default or summary judgment, so, again, promptness matters.

In all cases, please include a short account of what you say about the allegations you face, or the issue you want to mount a challenge against.
